I am not a RAT! I am a POSSUM !!!

We have finally found out what is making noise outside the house in the middle of the night. There are nights that we would be awaken by some strange noise outside near the garage. We thought it was a stray cat.

On Sunday night, when Shane was taking out his hockey gear from the boot of the car to put back into the garage, he heard some noise and movement in the branches of the neighbour’s tree. It was dark outside so he can not figure it out. He called for me to get the torch (flashlight), and when we lighted the tree, there it was, staring at us, a possum. I ran back inside to get the camera and luckily was able to take a snap of it before it scurried away.

When we were in Adelaide, I also saw one in the trunk of a tree. I stood right next to it. I got scared. Thought it was a BIG RAT. I called for my companions, “Hey, look, look, there’s a big rat in the trunk of the tree”. When they realised what I was talking about, they all burst out laughing. I was then nicknamed POSSUM. 🙂

  1. OK, the camera red flash eyes… kinda evil scary, lol.

I once had a co-worker who lived in a southern state in the U.S… She told me about eating possum pie. Gonna pass on eating possum pie…

  2. Oh, so that‘s what they look like. Yes, yes, I know. It’s just that I’m more used to seeing big rats the size of cats, rather than possums. LOL.

    Mystery solved then. 😉
