My hopes for the 2007 Philippine Election
May 14, 2007 at 12:24 pm | In All, Filipino, Philippines, Politics | 9 CommentsAs Filipinos flock to the polling centers today to cast their vote for senators and local government officials,
I hope and pray
1. that Filipinos will vote wisely.
2. that this election will be a clean, honest and most importantly a peaceful one.
3. that Filipinos have learned from the past.
4. that they would not vote for movie stars (ie; Richard Gomez, Cesar Montano and the likes) They can act yes, but can they lead a country? We need REAL not REEL leaders.
5. that Filipinos will not accept bribes from candidates.
6. that candidates will not buy their way in.
7. that candidates will NOT cheat. Remember Hello, Garci?
8. that the voices of the youth will be heard.
9. that this election will bring a POSITIVE change to the Philippines.
10. that whoever wins will serve the COUNTRY and not THEMSELVES.
Here’s hoping.

Well said. The cynic in me says that things won’t change overnight, but the hopeful part of me never stops dreaming of a Philippines standing tall, strong, united and working towards the lessening of corruption… The candle still burns.

i want to believe that Filipinos have changed their perspective on voting and the right of suffrage in itself. Aspring actors and celebrities have failed. . .opposition candidates are currently leading the polls. . .I don’t want to pre-empt this but I just hope the administration won’t spoil the results of the elections again. . .btw, have you heard of the news about Project Mercury??? the one alleged to have been launched by the government to manipulate the results???

I wish for those things too. But my biggest wish is that all hope’s not lost.

I think there is still HOPE. We all just have to work hard.
It’s good to know that the movie stars aren’t doing well at all. This is a good start. Pinoys are slowly maturing politically now.
Unofficial counts at the moment shows the TU leading. But whatever the results are , I hope all parties will respect that and non-winning parties will accept defeat with grace.
Let us all call for vigilance and NOT let anyone interfere and manipulate the results.
